Selling land for development in Rugby

For landowners in the Rugby Borough Council area. Local plan status checked against council sources on 12 October 2026.

In short: if you own a field, paddock or larger parcel in Rugby, a land promoter may be willing to fund the planning work at no upfront cost to you. We can introduce you to one. Nothing happens without your agreement.

Where the local plan stands

Rugby's new Local Plan for 2025–2042 was consulted on at Regulation 19 stage until 13 March 2026 and submitted for independent examination on 27 April 2026. Hearing sessions are scheduled to begin on 17 November 2026.

Green Belt and grey belt in Rugby

Because the plan is at examination, its proposed allocations are largely set. Land outside them may be relevant to future reviews or, in some cases, to planning applications. The west of the borough, towards Coventry, includes Green Belt. Read our plain-English guide to grey belt land.

Places we look at

Including land around Rugby, Dunchurch, Wolston, Brinklow, Clifton upon Dunsmore. If your land is elsewhere in the area, get in touch anyway.

How an introduction works

Tell us roughly where your land is and its size. We do some free desk checks, then, if it looks promising and you agree, we introduce you to a land promoter who works in the area. Their fee comes from the eventual sale, and our fee is paid by the promoter. Always take independent legal advice before signing anything. More on how land promotion works.
